Book Fair

Tuesday 20th November - Thursday 22nd November

Scholastic Book Fairs is coming to our school with a Buy One, Get One FREE Book Fair! This special event offers a great opportunity for you to add twice as many books to your child's home library or for some special Christmas presents. You will leave the fair with twice as many books!

When: Tuesday 20th November to Thursday 22nd November 
Where: MRPS Library
Time: 3:10pm - 3:30pm

Melbourne Cup Public Hoiday

Tuesday 6th November

Students are not required at school on Melbourne Cup day as it is a Public Holiday. 

Europe Trip

Sunday 28th October - Wednesday 14th November

Our trip to Europe is getting closer and we will be heading off on Sunday October 28th and returning on Wednesday 14th November. Final plans are being drawn up and after the holidays there will only be 3 weeks of school before we fly out.

Stepping into Prep Parent Information Night

Thursday 25th October

On Thursday 25th October at 5pm we are holding a Prep Parent Information Night. If your child is starting Prep next year we would love for you to come along to have any of your questions answered. Parents will receive an information pack with practical information about your child starting school.

First Day of Term 4

Monday 8th October

Students are due back to school on Monday 8th October for Term 4. We hope everyone has a safe and happy holidays.

Last Day of Term 3

Friday 21st September

Our last day of term will be on Friday 21st September. Students will finish early at 2:30pm.

Footy Day and Special Lunch

Friday 21st September

Students can come dressed up in their football teams colours. Students will get a yummy football themed lunch and are able to support their football team in the MRPS football parade. Parents and carers are invited to attend the parade.

Fun Run

Thursday 20th September

Students will be completing in a Fun Run around the school. Fun Runs are a great way to raise money whilst promoting healthy activity. All of the money raised will go to the Journey to Europe. A range of prizes are also available for students who raise money. 

Year 4/5 DOXA Camp Malmsbury

Monday 17th – 19th September

Students in years 4 and 5 will be attending the DOXA Malmsbury Camp.

Students will be enjoying a range of activities which are supervised by qualified outdoor education instructors to high safety standards. They include: Challenge ropes course, 
Climbing tower, Giant swing, Giant ladder, Trampolines, Low ropes, Crate stack, Leap of faith, Ga-ga pit, River ecology, Bush walking, Orienteering, Frisbee golf, Archery and Cooking.

Trivia Night

 Saturday 15th September

  Since 2013, Students at Mahogany Rise Primary School have been involved in Overseas Learning Experiences. This year Mahogany Rise will be sending 2 groups of students on an experience of a lifetime. One group will be visiting Europe and another group are off to India. We ask that you come along to our trivia night for a fun filled night and a great opportunity to help raise money for these students to attend.

Project C Performance

Thursday 13th September

In the wake of Polyglot finishing their multi-year arts partnership at Mahogany Rise Primary School last year, Project C are now running a similar creative arts project with 5/6S this term. Project C is a not-for-profit started by Wilson that aims to equip and connect young people with skills and resources through alternative arts education. 

Students will participate in creative exploration through visual and performing arts. As this is a student led learning experience, students will have the opportunity to try various creative art forms and learn new skills. This will all come together in a performance event on the evening of Thursday 13th September at 6.00pm at MRPS School Hall. Staff, parents, family and the wider community will be invited to watch what the students have created over the program.  

Lightning Premiership – Interschool Sports Finals 

Friday 7th September

Students in grades 4, 5 and 6, who are involved in interschool sports, will be competing in their lightning premiership tournament in Netball and Football. Students will complete mini games against each school in a full day of sporting fun! 

Father's Day Stall

  Thursday 30th August

Our Father's Day stall will be held on Thursday 30th August where students can buy something for that special someone.

Dental Visit

 Monday 27th August

On Monday 27th August you child will have the opportunity of a government funded dental check-up, treatment and ongoing dental plan at school provided by Semper Dental. 

Please see your classroom teacher or Amy in the office for a form. They must be returned by Friday 17th August. 
 

 Book Week Dress up day and Parade  

Wednesday 22nd August

 On Wednesday 22nd of August students are invited to dress up as their favourite book character. A parade will occur where students can show off their amazing costumes. Students will also be involved in a range of book related activities throughout the day.

 Book Week 

18th – 24th August

  
The theme for Book Week this year is Find Your Treasure! The Book Fair the previous week will give your children a chance to find their treasure in the many books on sale during the Book Fair. Further details will be provided closer to the date.

  Mahogany Rise P.S. will once again be hosting a Book Fair starting from 13 August - 16 August 2018. The theme for this year's Book Fair is To the Book Fair and Beyond: Reading is out of this World! 

Prep Transition Program

At Mahogany Rise Primary school, we believe in a seamless transition from kindergarten to Prep is vital in establishing a sound start to school life. Children and parents are encouraged to participate in the transition program in order to explore the exciting and stimulating programs available at Mahogany Rise Primary School.

Trip to India

Thursday 9th August

It is a very exciting day as students who are attending the trip to India are flying out of Melbourne and will return on Sunday 19th August. We all hope you have an amazing and safe trip!

Foundation 2019 Parent information Night

Curriculum Day

The school will be closed on the first day of Term 3 as we will be having a curriculum day.

Free Dress Day

28th June

 ​The Student Representative Council have been very busy organising a Free Dress Day for Thursday 28th June and have nominated giving the money raised to the Royal Children’s Hospital!! Please remind your child to wear free dress and bring a gold coin on the day so that we can help support unwell children.  

Performing Arts Assembly​​

Wilson is very excited to be putting together a Performing Arts Assembly. This is a great opportunity to see what the students have been learning and to further encourage them to keep learning and growing as young musicians and performers.

It will take place in the hall from 2:30pm on Wednesday 27th June (last week of term).

All parents and carers are invited to attend!
Parent/teacher interviews

26th June

The last Tuesday night of this term we will be having our parent/teacher interviews. There will be a notice going home shortly so make sure you book your spot with the classroom teacher.
Awards Assembly
25th June
On Monday 25th June we will be holding our mid year awards ceremony. It will commence at 2.30pm and conclude after 3pm. All parents, carers and family members are invited to come along and celebrate the good work that is being done by our students.

Our Let's Chat sessions are a FREE program for parents or carers to help build early speaking and listening skills for their babies, toddlers or preschoool aged children.
Afternoon tea with Union

The AEU are holding an afternoon tea for all staff, parents and members on Thursday 7 June at 3:45pm - 4:45pm at Monterey Secondary College.

The Turnbull government has cut $1.9 billion of funding to public schools. Under Turnbull’s plan, by 2023, 87% of public schools will remain underfunded. This is not fair.

Join school staff, principals, parents, and members of your electorate to discuss how schools would use additional funds to support students, and how you can help ensure your school gets the fair funding it deserves.

 School photos will be held on Wednesday 6th June.
The envelopes with all of the details will be going home to each child on Monday.   
Ballet concert
5th June
Our students have been involved in ballet lessons over the last few weeks and there will be a grand finale concert on the last day of the program. Parents are welcome to come along at 12.30 on Tuesday 5th June.

Prep Information Night

Prep Information Night is taking place this Thursday 24th May at 5pm. If you or anyone you know has a child going into Prep next year we would love to see you at the session.
School Holidays!

After a very busy term full of learning and success, our students will be ready for a much earned break.
Term 1 ends on Thursday the 29th of March and Term 3 will commence on Monday the 16th of April.

78 Storey Treehouse
Thursday the 19th April

  
Students from 23S, 34F, 45R and 56S have been invited to attend this exciting Arts Centre Excursion held at the Arts Centre Melbourne.  

The students will travel to Arts Centre Melbourne to watch a 78 Storey Treehouse performance and have a tour of the arts centre.

If time and weather permit we will also visit the Royal Botanic Gardens.
